While Covid-19 has devastated the Arts and Culture Sector nationwide, as it has taken away the ability to gather as large groups, art is the heartbeat and life blood of New York City, and I wasn't going to let our artists fall prey to the aftershocks of this crisis.
This Summer, I created the Hell's Kitchen Happiness Krewe, an outdoor Musical Pop Up Program that employs artists while also supporting small businesses in my neighborhood of Hell's Kitchen, which has been disproportionately impacted by Covid-19 since we rely so heavily on the tourism of the theatre district.
Each week, I gather a group of artists from various mediums and we show up in front of restaurants and small businesses to sprinkle the neighborhood with pure happiness and drive revenue to their locations.
We unite the community in song, dance and visual art - all while wearing masks and socially distanced, bringing joy, healing and love to all corners of New York City.
The Hell's Kitchen program was so successful that I quickly expanded uptown, downtown, to Brooklyn and Queens, all with the support of local community members, and in July, I was brought in to produce weekly pop up's in the West Village! While the generous support of Virginia Davies, Willard Taylor, Chuck Thomas, Peter Frank, Michael Kretchmar and Michael Bailey funds the weekly #westvillagelove initiative, I need YOUR help in continuing to produce events in Hell's Kitchen with the Hell's Kitchen Happiness Krewe.
Please click on the link and donate to our GOFUNDME for Hell's Kitchen if you are able to, and enjoy the wonderful videos, photos and press that our Team KALEIDOSCOPE efforts have received.
NEW YORK CITY IS NOT DEAD.
THE ARTS ARE OUR HEARTBEAT AND WE WILL ENDURE!
